Join us on September 18th, 2025, at the Wellcome Collection in London and online, for a conference focused on advancing the understanding and treatment of chronic and recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). This year, we’re excited to explore new developments that offer hope to patients and caregivers.
Around 2.8 million people experience UTIs in the UK every year. They cause significant disruption to daily life, particularly for those with chronic or recurring UTIs. They are also one of the most common causes of sepsis, a life-threatening condition. One of the most frequent infections seen in clinical practice in the UK, UTIs comprise a major societal health burden across all populations, particularly older women. Yet misdiagnosis and under-treatment are frequent issues, leading to some infections becoming resistant to antibiotics, further limiting treatment options. The charity Antibiotic Research UK deals directly with people affected by this – nearly 60% of enquiries to its Patient Support Service relate to UTIs.
Antibiotic Research UK is holding this conference to help, support and inform all those involved in UTIs, whether personally affected or working in research or healthcare. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing threat in treating UTIs, and this major conference brings together clinical/research experts in the UTI field, with compelling, insightful and informative personal, patient experience of UTIs, to understand more about what needs to be done to tackle this national challenge.
This event builds on our successful 2024 conference, which was rated “excellent” by over 90% of delegates surveyed, and reached hunreds of registered clinicians, researchers, patients, policymakers, industry representatives, and media.
Our 2025 theme focuses on the frontiers of research and treatment for UTIs. Antibiotic Research UK will also present a new study revealing what research areas patients want prioritised. Through a series of expert talks, panel discussions, and patient stories, we will once again foster a sense of community while driving forward the conversation on overcoming these challenging infections.
