Whether you are new to the role or looking to refine your approach, this event offers valuable guidance and inspiration.

“Ward Managers are crucial to the development of cultures of care that impact positively on outcomes and experiences for patients, families, carers and staff.”

NHS England & FONS 2025

The day will begin with reflections on the characteristics and qualities that define effective Ward Managers, helping delegates understand their leadership responsibilities in the context of delivering high-quality care. A key focus will be on how Ward Managers contribute to meeting Care Quality Commission (CQC) Quality Ratings at ward level and ensuring ward accreditation through sustained quality improvement.

Throughout the conference, delegates will hear from experienced Ward Managers, Nurse Directors, and national experts who will share real-life insights and lessons learned. These sessions will support delegates in developing essential ward leadership skills, including staff motivation, communication and clinical oversight.

Critical aspects of ward management will be explored in depth, such as handling performance concerns, supporting nurses in difficulty and addressing sensitive staffing challenges. Attendees will also gain practical knowledge around managing and understanding ward finances and budgets, equipping you to make informed decisions that support both safety and efficiency.

“Nursing, midwifery and care staff leadership provides a strong vehicle to ensure that staff can create and deliver the changes that are needed on the ground.”
